THE GRASTON TECHNIQUE - WHAT IS IT?

A woman is getting a massage on her back in a spa.

Dr. Revels is proud to be certified and trained in the implementation of the Graston Technique. The Graston Technique is a form of manual chiropractic therapy that uses specially designed instruments to pinpoint problem areas. The Graston Technique is also known as assisted soft tissue mobilization. By using these specially designed tools, our chiropractors are able to treat scar tissue and other injuries that may restrict your normal mobility. With this type of specialized, instrument-assisted mobilization, it’s no wonder why the Graston Technique is so popular among chiropractic offices around the country.

WHAT DOES THE GRASTON TECHNIQUE DO?

The main goals of using the Graston Technique are to reduce the patient’s pain while increasing or restoring mobility & function to the affected area. During the process, we gradually work to break down the scar tissue and other restrictions that are typically associated with trauma to your soft tissue. Soft tissue can be affected by a strained muscle, pulled ligament or tendon, or fascia. We then reduce the restrictions by stretching the connective tissues so that we can attempt to rearrange the structure of the soft tissue that we are treating. Once the Graston Technique is completed, this will provide a more suitable healing environment for the injured tissue.
